The short version
Pro cleaning follows a simple logic: mechanical (scrub particles in hand paste), chemical (degreasers and cold cleaners dissolve oil) and economical (concentrates and bulk sizes instead of pricey spray bottles). Strong does not mean reckless: gloves, ventilation and targeted dosing are part of it.
Natural soap is wonderful, but it has a limit: an oiled thread, brake dust, paint residue, machine grease. This is where the world of pro products begins, the ones that have served in trades, workshops and industry for decades. We judge them honestly, without dogma: the right product for the job at hand.
Three questions almost always lead to the right product: what has to go (oil, limescale, protein, deposit)? On which surface? And how much of it do I need regularly? From that follow the product, its form and the pack size.
Hands clean after oil, grease and paint
Hand-washing paste
Fine scrub particles lift the dirt mechanically. A little on dry hands, rub briefly, rinse with a little water. The workshop classic.
Liquid hand cleaner
For the dispenser at the workbench, with or without scrub. Fast and economical, kinder to skin than pure solvent.
Do not forget skin care
If you handle strong stuff daily, treat your skin to a rich cream afterwards. That keeps it resilient.

Parts, machines and large areas
Cold cleaners & industrial degreasers dissolve oil and grease without heat, ideal for engine, workbench and floor. Brake and parts cleaners evaporate residue-free and degrease in seconds, perfect before gluing or painting, but only well-ventilated and away from ignition sources. For large floors, soft soap in a canister is the economical, cheap choice, and a glass cleaner concentrate replaces dozens of spray bottles.
Strong means: with protection and sense
Pro products can irritate, be flammable or attack surfaces. Wear gloves and, if needed, goggles, ventilate well, never mix different products (especially not acid with chlorine), and always test on an inconspicuous spot first. The notes on the pack are not decoration, they are the instructions.
The workshop basics
Three things no workshop should be without:
- A hand-washing paste with scrub for the hands
- A cold cleaner/degreaser for parts and floor
- Brake and parts cleaner for fast, residue-free degreasing
