Clean car seats & upholstery

Coffee stains, crumbs, dog hair: car upholstery takes a beating. How to get fabric seats and the interior clean again, without soaking them.

The short version

First vacuum out, then upholstery cleaner or foam on the fabric seats, loosen with the brush and wipe off with a cloth. A wet vacuum does the deep clean. Never too wet, the car has to dry through.

Fabric car seats are like upholstery: they take up stains, odours and hair. With the same logic as the sofa, vacuum, treat specifically, deep-clean, they get clean again. For leather: mild and care.

How the interior gets clean

1

Vacuum thoroughly

Vacuum seats, crevices and floor mats thoroughly, loosen pet hair first with a rubber brush or a pet-hair remover.

2

Test the spot

Test the upholstery cleaner on a hidden spot, then apply it to the stains and surfaces.

3

Work it in

Work it in with a brush in circular motions, that lifts the dirt out of the weave.

4

Wipe off or vacuum

Take up the loosened dirt with a clean cloth or with the wet vacuum.

5

Dry & air

Open the doors and let it dry through before you get back in, that prevents odours and mould.

Leather in the car

Wipe leather seats only with a slightly damp cloth and a special leather cleaner, then protect with leather care. No harsh cleaners and no wetness, that saves cracks and stains.
