How to do it gently
Pre-wash
Wash the car roughly first so loose dirt is gone and you do not scratch the paint while working.
Spray on bug remover
Spray onto the front, window and mirrors and let it soak until the residue is soft.
Take off gently
Take off with a soft, wet sponge without pressure, soaked residue comes off easily.
Dissolve tar separately
Soak tar spots with a tar remover and dab off, do not rub. Then wash the spot.
Re-seal
Re-seal the treated spots with wax or polish, that protects the paint.
Speed protects the paint
The longer bugs and tar stay on the paint, the more they etch in. Remove promptly after long summer drives. A good wax layer makes both stick less.
